STEM Careers: Public Affairs Specialist
Public affairs specialists help companies and organizations communicate with the public. They may develop public awareness campaigns, give talks to schools and community groups, and work with media outlets to provide information. Many public affairs specialists work for scientific organizations, keeping the public informed about topics like water quality, energy usage, and weather and climate.

"As a public affairs specialist for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, it's my job to communicate NASA's research and accomplishments to the public. I apply STEM skills every day to help me understand and break down complex scientific materials into communications products that allow everyone to share in the excitement of NASA's discoveries."
