Microbiologists study microorganisms, which are living things that can only be seen with a microscope.

"I am a microbiologist and work for Michigan State University. Every day, I use a combination of math and science skills to study how plants and microbes (many of which we use for food, chemicals and biofuels) measure their external light environment and adapt to survive and thrive in changing environmental conditions. I am also a long-time volunteer with the American Society of Microbiology, which works to educate individuals at all levels in the microbiological sciences, including topics in STEM."
